Don't you just hate it when you find a recipe, it sounds delicious, you love the ingredients, but it just doesn't work for your tastebuds? I hate to say it but that's how I feel about this Blueberry Sour Cream Ice Cream :( I love blueberries, I like sour cream, I like ice cream, it sounded great and I was so excited when Dolores, of Chronicles in Culinary Curiosity , chose this blueberry ice cream recipe for Tuesdays with Dorie group, but I just wasn't happy with then end result, sorry! Maybe I had my hopes up too high? I don't know, this flavor combo just wasn't working for me. I felt the ice cream was way too rich, I could barely handle more than a couple of bites, and the sour cream flavor was too strong. My blueberry loving kids also did not care for this, if you can believe kids don't want ice cream, after a few bites they wanted 'a different' ice cream, and when I offered it to them again they declined!
I wish I had more to report, more pictures of fun things I did with this ice cream, but I don't. It was a beautiful color, easy to make, and got me in the Thanksgiving mood...because when I was preparing the blueberries and waiting for them to 'burst' in the saucepan I was taken to November in my mind, stirring cranberries until they popped and making the cranberry sauce for our Thanksgiving feast. So thank you, blueberry sour cream ice cream, for reminding me of one of my favorite times of the year :)

My kids didn't want seconds either. Hmmm...I think it was the sour cream. We will probably be making plain old chocolate next time.
Yeah, it was the sour cream. I think it doesn't belong in ice cream. Yours looks nice though!
Sorry it wasn't your favorite. It looks so pretty though. There's always next week...
Well you have cookies to look fwd to next time, just don't add sourcream..HA!
I miss Thanksgiving! You've totally got me wanting turkey and cranberry sauce??
Bummer you weren't a fan but I guess you can't win them all. There's always next week right? Great job nonetheless.

Something this pretty ought to taste good, don't you think? We loved it, but I can see where one would not as the flavors were all very strong. I am with you, a couple of bites at a time is just about all I wanted because it is very rich and very flavorful...a couple bites would just satisfy, which I am thinking is a good thing for the waistline! I had a couple of bites when we tested it, then a couple of bites before bed, and a couple of bites mid morning. It works very nicely that way. I will probably have a couple of bites on the deck after dinner tonight, too.

You are right it is like cranberries popping during Thanksgiving! This wasn't one of our favorites either, oh well, win some lose some right?
yeah, i hate that too. you should like it, it sounds great, all the ingredients are yummy... and when it's also such an easy recipe, it's even more bitter when you just don't like it. too bad, maybe next time!
Oh, I'm sorry this didn't work out better for you. I'm with the others -- it LOOKS gorgeous.
Seriously - ice cream sandwiches. Covers all sins, and makes this stuff irresistible.
Hope the next recipe is more to your liking!
Beautiful!!! I was thinking it might be better with hot fudge, or caramel, or anything to tone down that sour taste...
I'm sorry that it wasn't a winner with you or your family. It did look pretty, though. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, but maybe you didn't want to think about that any more. :o)
My kids weren't impressed either. My oldest even said that he liked the blueberry part, but not the "creamy part".
You get points for pretty ice cream though :)
I totally agree with your first thought! What could be bad with all of those good ingredients? Not bad, just meh.
Hmmm....I subbed in some yogurt and my daughter loved this ice cream. Try that. I have heard quite a few people not caring for the sour cream taste.
